Votar Para El Diablo by gurrilla Votar Para El Diablo by gurrilla
A first itteration of the design, I felt like totally messing it up and using the ripped page to put the design on.
I decided to make it a band poster as it suited the style and I thought it would fit well in to my portfolio as such.
Please let me know if the text doesn't make sense as I used an online translator and we all know how well they work.

Thanks for such a bizzare image that sparked my imagination.

That's a nice job, man.
Actually, the correct traslation would be VOTA POR EL DIABLO.
Well, we have to note that it deppends on what's the idea you are trying to transmit.

Also i have to say that i saw your image as the cover art of a album of a local band, but it was modified a little.

Check it out.

Rey Mysterio's Mask puts some great effect of "famous" in the work, I like the overall.

I dig the look and idea. As for the text, it comes across but is a bit off. "Votar" is "to vote" ,the act of voting, but you want an active verb as in "vote for" = "Vote". (Here's a link to demonstrate how crazy conjugation is [link])

It's still good, like in a subtle Engrish kind of way, which almost I dare say makes it better. It's all about appropriation no? Why not of language?

That friggin' rocks. I love this one. The colors are great and the rips and all make it look like something that's been hanging on a telephone pole for years. Great!

amazing i love it :+fav: .... what is the different between silk screen and stencil :?
gurrilla Featured By Owner Jul 4, 2007   Interface Designer
Well silk screen is a process by which you transfer an image on to a fabric mesh "screen" the positive area of the original becomes negative of the "screen" and lets you push paint through it onto whatever you have underneath. A stencil is something where you take a solid material e.g. card, and cutout the parts you want to spray through. I hope that helps. If you ever get a chance at school, college whatever have a go at screenprinting, its really fun.

I loove this style, and how the purple and green just go together so well.

Cheers marmalade. One of my main reason for wanting to do this piece was a desire to use bright colours. I figured they fit the subject matter perfectly.

I really like the way you used the images here. Very retro, almost an old carnival feel to it. Kudos :)

Just read the description (I have a bad tendency to forget to do that..) Just one suggestion - if this is a band poster, I would suggest putting the image on something other than a white background. Just some brick stock or something behind the ripped paper to add a little more depth to it. ^.^
